The most diabolical criminal ever to menace America, Tang-akhmut, the Egyptian, had descended like a blighting plague on Cincinnati. Tang-akhmut, leading a new and terrible army of dwarfed monsters - scourging helpless women with poisoned and barbed whips; who set about systematically to wreck the water supply of the city and then set uncontrollable conflagrations to cover his looting. Richard Wentworth, the Spider, penniless, a man outside the law, once more faces him in single-handed battle! While the Spider borrowed his black slouch hat and cloak from the Shadow, the rest of the character was drastically different. Wentworth is strongly emotional, plumbing the thrills of victory as readily, and as deeply, as the depths of despair during his escapades. His long-suffering fiancée, Nita van Sloan, is a worthy character in her own right, often relegated to the traditional role of hostage-bait. As additional exotic spice, Wentworth maintains a Sikh manservant/warrior companion, Ram Singh, as well as chauffeur Ronald Jackson, the sergeant from his old army days. Rounding out the cast of characters is Commissioner of Police Stanley Kirkpatrick, Wentworth´s staunch friend and the Spider´s greatest adversary; Kirkpatrick himself lives in a state of constant angst for fear that duty will one day force him to send his friend to the electric chair as punishment for the Spider´s crimes. This thrilling Spider audiobook features acclaimed voice talent Nick Santa Maria, who has made the Spider his own! ´´The Devil´s Death Dwarfs´´ originally published in The Spider magazine, October 1936. 1. The phenomenal New York Times best-selling author Elizabeth Lowell brilliantly displays her incomparable talents in a story of treachery, greed, conspiracy, and murder that will hold the reader spellbound until the final word.It is the opportunity of a lifetime for Kate Chandler, the chance to cut seven rare, priceless sapphires and solidify her reputation as a world-class jewel cutter. But something goes tragically wrong during the transfer of goods. The sapphires vanish without a trace. Missing also is the man Kate trusted to transport the gems, her half-brother Lee, who now quite possibly is dead. Suddenly, she is on the run, pursued by federal agents who suspect her of being the criminal mastermind of a cunning bait-and-switch scheme.Special Agent Sam Groves, an essential member of the FBI´s elite strike force, could never be scammed by a beautiful confidence woman. But something is troubling about this assignment: someone else is chasing Kate Chandler as well. Kate suspects the awful truth: she has stumbled into a conspiracy that goes far beyond a simple jewel heist. Getting Groves, her constant shadow, to believe her is a step in the right direction, because the order has already been passed down to a ruthlessly efficient assassin: Kate Chandler must not be allowed to live. 1. Setting a standard that has never been surpassed, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is a devastating tale of duplicity and espionage. In the shadow of the newly erected Berlin Wall, Alec Leamas watches as his last agent is shot dead by East German sentries. For Leamas, the head of Berlin Station, the Cold War is over. As he faces the prospect of retirement - or, worse, a desk job - Control offers him a unique opportunity for revenge. Assuming the guise of an embittered and dissolute ex-agent, Leamas is set up to trap Mundt, the deputy director of the East German Intelligence Service - with himself as the bait. In the background is George Smiley, ready to make the game play out just as Control wants. 1. Language: English. Narrator: John le Carré. Accountant turned professional monster hunter Owen Zastava Pitt managed to stop the nefarious Old Ones´ invasion plans last year, but as a result made an enemy out of one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Now an evil death cult known as the Church of the Temporary Mortal Condition wants to capture Owen in order to gain the favor of the great Old Ones. The Condition is led by a fanatical necromancer known as the Shadow Man. The government wants to capture the Shadow Man and has assigned the enigmatic Agent Franks to be Owen´s full-time bodyguard, which is a polite way of saying that Owen is monster bait. With supernatural assassins targeting his family, a spy in their midst, and horrific beasties lurking around every corner, Owen and the staff of Monster Hunter International don´t need to go hunting, because this time the monsters are hunting them. Fortunately, this bait is armed and very dangerous. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Oliver Wyman. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/adbl/002958de/bk_rhde_002536_sample.mp3. When a wolf leaves the pack, he lives only as long as he can kill by himself quicker and surer than any pack he runs up against. Meet a man beyond either forgiveness or vengeance. Meet the Man they call The Lone Wolf. Better meet him now. The way he lives, he can´t live much longer. Burt Wulff was the target, and the way to Wulff was through an old friend named Tamara. Calabrese´s men came for her in broad daylight, abducted her from her home and shot her full of drugs so that she didn´t know a thing until she woke up in Miami. Miami - famous resort town, place in the sun and all that - but not now, not for Tamara and not for Wulff. The trouble was that Wulff was dead set against heroin, and went around breaking up the neat little trade routes that drug runners had set up around the globe. Now Calabrese decided he´d had enough of Wulff. Now he had Tamara, the bait by which to lure Wulff to Miami. In the shadow of those fine hotels and fancy shops, there was something going on along surfside. And that something was called murder. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Adam Epstein. Miami´s best-dressed serial killer is back and on the prowl - at least he would be if he could shake off his permanent shadow. Ever since their paths first crossed, Sergeant Doakes hasn´t let Dexter Morgan out of his sight. Dexter may well be the Miami PD´s blood-spatter analyst, but Sgt. Doakes has a pretty good idea of how Dex likes to spend his free time, and he´s determined to catch him in the act. Dex hasn´t killed in months and is getting twitchy. To throw Doakes off his scent, he´s spending more time with Rita, his girlfriend. But no matter how many cosy nights they spend in front of the TV, Doakes is still watching. Then a body turns up, horribly mutilated and barely alive. To trap the torturer, Doakes and Dexter will have to work together - if they can trust each other. It´s a devil´s pact, and one of them will have to be the bait.... 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Lindsay. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/orio/000809de/bk_rhde_002536_sample.mp3. Will Murray´s Pulp Classics line of audiobooks are of the highest quality and feature the great Pulp Fiction stories of the 1930s-1950s. The Secret 6 audiobook, #1 October 1934 Criminals quaked at the name The Secret 6. And for four glorious issues, this team of six crime fighters took on some of the weirdest and most fantastic antagonists that ever reared their heads in the pulp magazines. It was where weird menace met six normal men with no strange gadgets or outlandish skills. The utterly amazing stories were written by Robert J. Hogan, better known for writing the G-8 and his Battle Aces stories. But after four issues, the over-the-top action came to an end and Popular Publications pulled the plug on the series. These vintage pulp tales are now reissued for today´s listeners as audiobooks. Table of Contents: The Red Shadow by Robert J. Hogan It struck out of the night, a phantom monster whose blood-red shadow brought death to everyone it touched. New York was panic-stricken. Beneath its reign of terror, the police were helpless.
